WHAT’S TRENDING IN KITCHEN DESIGN IN 2023

Designing your kitchen for your new home is one of the most exciting parts of the new home building experience!

The hub of the home; your kitchen is one of the most used used zones in your home where your cook your family meals, organise your home life and entertain with family and friends.

Modern Shaker Kitchens

Simply put – Shaker (or profiled cabinetry ) are recessed doors and panels like in the Webb & Brown-Neaves kitchen shown above. You will have seen this style of cabinetry in timeless kitchen styles such as Hamptons.

Modern Shaker kitchens are the evolution of the traditional style Hamptons kitchen where the homeowner is breaking the rules and adapting the Hamptons style to suit their own taste. Modern shaker kitchens embrace colour like the kitchen above and use cleaner, more refreshed cabinetry profiles such as Polytec Hamptons, Casino, Brooklyn, Berrilee and Ascot. When you visit our Perth and South West Home Collective showrooms you can see these on display.

Modern Shaker kitchens in some cases might combine profiled cabinetry with flat panel cabinetry. They will also embrace more contemporary handle designs like half moon shapes or stone style handles and can feature contemporary selections such as concrete benchtops. Integration of your kitchen appliances is also huge in Modern Shaker kitchens as it allows you to conceal these elements and focus on overall aesthetics. Integration is also a huge trend right now and we discuss it in more detail below.

Integration

Concealing the working elements of your kitchens behind custom cabinetry is one of the biggest trends in kitchen design right now. Integration allows you to have the overall design of your kitchen shine through without your appliances getting in the way. Common appliances to integrate in your kitchen are your fridge/freezer like shown above, dishwasher, rangehood and waste bin.

Integration in your kitchen can also be used to maximise and organise your storage in your kitchen. Integrated storage designs include appliance cupboards where you can store and use everyday items like your toaster and kettle and conceal them when not in use.

We also love custom pantry designs that combine Hafele integrated storage items such as the tandem pantry with custom drawers and shelf designs. Other integrated items we love for your kitchen are smart technology items such as the Hafele docking drawer with integrated power and USB sockets, and point pods which raise and lower power outlets direct from your benchtop. Visit Home Collective to see all these items on display.

Green Kitchens

Eye catching kitchens in striking shades of green are popular in 2023. Polytec Topiary shown above is by far the most popular choice by clients. In the Dale Alcock Homes kitchen shown above this is paired with a Polytec Prime Oak feature island and Caesarstone Organic White benchtops.

Topiary is a solid mid tone green that works well on its own and pairs beautifully in a variety of two tone designs. Topiary comes in a smooth finish as well as VENETTE which offers fingerprint resistant technology.

On display in Home Collective Leederville we have a kitchen in Topiary for you to experience this green it all it’s beauty.

Curves & Steccawood

Still strong in 2023 are curved kitchen designs and luxury Polytec STECCAWOOD. Both luxury design choices for your kitchen they can be used individually or together to create showstopping designs. In our Leederville showcase kitchen shown above the half round STECCAWOOD battens create beautiful texture around the curved ends of the island a striking feature across the front.

Curves in your kitchen design can also be executed with flat panel cabinetry. Click here to see this on display in Dale Alcock Homes Akio display home. Curves create an organic flow of elements in your kitchen design that become a feature and create wow real factor.

STECCAWOOD battens come in four different styles – square, rectangle, half round and a concave curve. It can be applied in a vertical or horizontal setout. STECCAWOOD creates beautiful texture to sections of cabinetry and create striking lines throughout your design

Feature Rangehoods

Kitchen rangehoods are becoming their own feature in contemporary kitchen design in 2023. In the kitchen shown above we have integrated the rangehood within custom boxed design and it sits asymmetrically to the side. With no extra overhead cabinetry and the tiles splashback to the roof it’s a unique design that adds real wow factor.

Downdraft extraction systems that rise form your benchtop or are built into your cooktop create a stunning feature of your rangehood on a kitchen island like in our showcase kitchen in Leederville. Retro style kitchens are bringing back the suspended canopy over kitchen islands in unique bespoke designs that look sensational.

On the market now there are spectacular circular style rangehoods in stunning metallic colours that create beautiful curved features in your kitchen. We also love the idea of the pendant style rangehoods that appear as luxury light fittings over your cooktop.

Fluted Glass

Polytec Fluted glass doors are an elegant and striking design feature for your luxury kitchen design. They add character to glass fronted cabinet designs and work well in modern shaker style kitchens adding another layer and contemporary edge to this style.

The monochrome kitchen above combines fluted glass cabinets with stunning Polytec Hamptons profile cabinetry and a striking open shelf feature. The fluted glass offers an obscured view into the cupboards making items visible but not completely on display like more traditional style designs.

Fluted glass cabinets offer a stunning ribbed texture to your kitchen design that works extremely well with a single colour kitchen like an all white design.
