Undeniably, one of the most eye catching features of The Lucen is the beautiful wooden bookcase that stands at the centre of the home. This space acts as a place to display books, trinkets and vases, while allowing light to travel through each space on the ground floor. Integral to the lighting throughout the home, it acts as a divider between spaces without interrupting the continuity and flow of the floorplan. In collaboration The Maker has specially designed this piece with mid-century style at the forefront, with the wood colour and fabrication adding to the overall feel of the home.

The Lucen is guided by the quiet influence of illumination, orientation and environmental awareness. The choice of sheers to cover each window was crucial in achieving this – allowing light to travel through while showcasing the natural texture of the curtains and maintaining a calm, coastal feel throughout the home.

Throughout the kitchen and laundry, the Lucen features the ‘Marazzi – Confetto’ tile in Kaki with a subtle natural texture. Rather than going glossy, we’ve opted for something more muted, with natural texture and shape that stands beautifully alongside the wooden features. It’s the perfect complementary texture for the timber cabinetry, bringing a touch of nature into the living space.

This sage green trend, one we’ve seen building since the early 2020’s, continues through to The Lucen’s splashback tile. It’s a nod to mid-century design, when earthy shades of green became popular in the post-war era, bringing a sense of cheerful optimism and connecting indoor spaces to the backyard.

Removing or changing tiles is a big process however, removing an outdated backsplash or tile for something a little more modern can brighten & freshen up the space.
