Stories from Our Place to Yours: Alejandra and Joseph

From the moment Alejandra and Joseph stepped inside Home Collective, the experience felt different. As they later described it, it felt “like a five-star hotel,” beautiful, considered and instantly welcoming.

That first impression set the tone for what would become a genuinely memorable part of their building journey. It wasn’t just the space itself, but the people, the warmth, attentiveness and small thoughtful touches that made them feel at ease from the very start.

Your Pinterest board, IRL

By the time of their Selections Consult, they already had a clear idea of how they wanted their home to look. Inspiration came from everywhere, endless scrolling on Pinterest and Instagram, saved images and exploring display homes. That digital inspiration became far more tangible once they stepped inside Home Collective. Seeing finishes online had been useful, but being able to experience them in person changed everything.

“Being in Home Collective was very inspiring. Being able to see and touch all of their tapware and their stone tops was really good. As soon as you come in and get the tactile feel for everything, that helped us make a lot of decisions we were unsure of.”

Just as importantly, they weren’t making those decisions alone. They really valued the guidance of the Selections Consultants, particularly the way advice was offered thoughtfully and with experience, often suggesting ideas they hadn’t even considered, but ended up loving.

Here to back your big choices

Their Selections Consult felt particularly well supported. After sitting down with Paula beforehand to walk through their Design Brief, they arrived feeling prepared and aligned. Paula’s suggestions, particularly in the kitchen, helped bring clarity and confidence right when they needed it most.

Some of these decisions became defining features of their home. Their kitchen, with waterfall ends on the island, is now a strong focal point, and practical touches like the integrated bin make everyday life easier. Then there were the playful decisions, like the bold laundry tiles Joseph chose, which they now adore.

When decision fatigue set in, Paula stepped in with confidence and care, especially on final paint choices. At one point, Alejandra and Joseph simply handed over the reins, trusting her to choose for them. “She did really well”, Alejandra says.

“At the end of our selections day, being able to see everything in front of us on the flat lay really helped us visualise and imagine what our house will look like.”

The place to dream bigger

Their experience at Home Collective went beyond selections. Attending a client-only event, a Christmas-themed dinner cooked by Scott Bridger from Bib and Tucker, was a highlight.

“It was honestly amazing being able to have that experience because I’ve never seen any other builder offer that to their clients.”

When we asked what their favourite part of Home Collective was, the answer was simple but complicated, “I can’t even choose one because everything was just amazing”, said Alejandra. Their experience wasn’t defined by a single moment, it was a series of thoughtful, well-timed touches that made every visit feel easy and welcoming.

“I really like how everyone goes above and beyond for you here, and they’re just all welcoming and friendly.”

In the end, their experience came down to how it all felt. Supported. Understood. Looked after. From the space itself to the people within it, Home Collective made a complex process feel simpler and far more enjoyable than they expected.

“I would recommend Home Collective to people who are thinking of building because everyone is so helpful and they have so much knowledge. They have a lot of specialists here who can help bring your vision to life.”
