COOKING WITH INDUCTION

Why the move to all electric is good for you home.

Stockland has just celebrated the launch of their first all-electric community in WA, Wildflower in Piara Waters. To showcase the benefits of all-electric cooking, the Stockland team hosted an intimate cooking demonstration here at Home Collective, with celebrity chef Miguel Maestre and local special guest Chef Gogo.

The interactive demo featured international cooking on the induction cooktops on display. Chef Gogo focused on Indian flavours and Miguel shared his signature paella, but the star of the show were the fresh scallops caught that morning at Rottnest Island! Going all-electric can have a positive impact in the heart of the home. So, what are the top 3 benefits when cooking with induction?

1. Induction cooking is more energy efficient

Induction is actually much more energy-efficient than a gas stove. Gas stoves waste a lot of heat that escapes into the air, but induction cooktops use special technology to heat your pots and pans directly. This means less heat is wasted, and more of it goes into cooking your food. Induction cooking can transfer up to 90% of the energy to your food, while gas stoves only manage around 40-55%.

2. Induction cooking is less expensive than gas cooking

While induction cooktops might be more expensive to buy at first, they can save you money in the long run. Induction cooktops are super-efficient, so they use less electricity, which means lower energy bills. They’re also easier to clean and maintain, so you won’t have to spend as much on cleaning supplies or repairs compared to gas stoves.

3. Induction cooking is better for controlling temperatures quickly

It’s true that gas stoves heat up fast and have visible flames, but guess what? Induction cooktops can do it too! In fact, they’re even better at it. Induction cooktops can change temperature quickly and precisely, so you have better control over your cooking. They can adjust heat levels in a snap, making it easier to cook your food just the way you want it. Plus, they often have cool features like different heat settings and programmable options that make cooking more fun and flexible.

As Western Australians embrace more sustainable living and energy efficient homes, induction cooking is set to become more popular.

Col Dutton, Stockland General Manager – WA Communities – said “by removing gas and going all-electric, homeowners reduce their carbon footprint. Induction cooktops are more powerful, energy efficient, easier to clean and reduce air pollutants in the home. Plus, by removing gas, you have one less connection fee and ongoing bill to pay.

“We recognise that going all-electric can be a big change for the daily lives of our residents, which is why we want to show them the cost, health and environmental benefits of moving away from gas and thanks to Miguel and Chef Gogo I can see we are on the right track!”
